Entry requirements

✽  Individuals and collectives // No age limits (+18) // Site specific artworks from all the fields of arts

✽  The artworks created during the residence time will be remain and located in the place where they are thought of. So submitting artists are committed to create a work that will be linked to Lozio municipality.

✽  There’re 3 characters, which come from suggestions of stories and legends from the territory and which will help artists to enter in the atmosphere of the residence and of the territory. These are only a starting point to think about it, discovering traditions and culture of the place. Artists aren’t forced to work on these characters and on the linked themes, but they’re free to choose what they want in order to create a connection between their style and the territory.


Residence takes place in Lozio Valley, under the fantastic mountains of middle Caminica Valley. Here, there’s the little municipality of Lozio, where traditions and connection with the territory are still strong.

Collaboration opportunity

Interested artists can work with the Casa-Museo della Gente di Lozio, an ethnographic museum that collects typical objects of mountain and peasant culture.


✽   Residence will take place in June and July 2018. The final presentation of all artworks and the catalogue of falía* 2018 should take place the first week of September 2018.

✽  Minumum 2 weeks – Maximum 4 weeks // Residence period should be agreed upon the selection time // The maximum period of permanence could last more, if the residence staff agreed it upon artist’s needs.

✽   Artists will have for free: room and board, with an accomodation that should have a kitchen, a bathroom and wi-fi, a space of work, materials and a daily budget of 10 euros for food and some materials.

✽  The only things that the residence project does not cover during artist’s stay are the travel expenses, the medical insurance and extras.

✽  Artists will be guided into the discover of Lozio Vally and Camonica Valley during the residence time.

✽  Upon agreement with the residence staff, artists can request the possibility of hosting guests outside the project for a fee. If it is not possible to host them at the residence, the staff will find another suitable accommodation for them.


✽ Artists interested should fill in the form and send all the requested documentation to:

✽  The mail has to contain these attachments: a copy of artist’s ID, portfolio, biography and project’s draft.

✽  Before sending the application, please read Terms and Conditions. It is understood that at the time artists submit an application, they agree to them.

✽  The documentation must be in Italian or in English.


The Commission is composed of:

Alice Vangelisti, residence’s project curator and creator

Matteo Galbiati, curator and art curator, he’s an artistic director of some art events and he collaborate with art specialised magazines. He teaches at the SantaGiulia Fine Arts Academy

Alessandro Mancassola, visual artist, works in the duo Barbara and Ale with Barbara Ceriani Basilico. Among others, they exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, at Pac in Milan and Sandretto Re Rebaudengo Foundation in Turin. He teaches at Brera Fine Arts Academy in Milan, at the Carrara Fine Arts Academy in Bergamo and at the SantaGiulia Fine Arts Academy

Selection criterions will consider artist’s proposal, past works and artist’s motivation to get in touch with this reality

Terms and conditions

✽  Works will be chosen at the incontestable discretion of the committee.

✽  The artist grants the exhibition of the work realized in a place to be defined in the Municipality of Lozio, to which the work will remain. The Municipality and the residence staff are therefore committed to the conservation and enhancement of the work.

✽   The artist take responsibility for the spaces, employed during the residence time, and after this time these must be as they were delivered. For this reason, the artists has to pay a symbolic deposit of € 100 on the day of arrival at the residence, which will be returned at the end of the period of residence, if no damage has been done to the spaces and the structure.

✽   The artist is in charge of cleaning and tiding up of his/her accomodation and working spaces.

✽  Artists have no working hours, but they can organise their days according to their own convenience. The only limitation is the respect of the work’s creation, that should be completed at the end of the residence’s time. Residence could last longer, only according to the residence staff.

✽  In order to promote and collect the residence activities, it will be taken some photos and record some videos, which will be used on the website and social networks.

✽  Artists coming from the EU can use the medical services in Italy. However, it is preferable to get a private health insurance. For non-EU artists, a private health insurance is obligatory. It’s recommended to send a copy of the insurance to the residency staff.

✽  The artist states that the work’s contents do not violate the human rights. Anyway, the artist exempt the residence staff from any responsibility on the contents of the works, which will be shown in public spaces and will be visible to all ages.

✽   The artist takes sole responsibility for resolving any third party‘s claims of infringement of rights and/or claim for damages. The residence shall not be held accountable in the event of any dispute.

✽  The personal data provided by the artist will be used only for communications relating to the residence.

✽  The personal data won’t be disclosed to third party without the agreement of the interested party. This information could be disclosed to a third party only when it is strictly connected with the residence’s working and management.
