The artist residency takes place in the Lozio Valley, nestled in the shadow of the majestic mountains of the mid-Camonica Valley. This is where you’ll find the municipality of Lozio, a small village recognized by the Italian Alpine Club (CAI) as the first ‘Villaggio degli Alpinisti’ in Lombardy. Here, at around 1,000 meters above sea level, traditions and the connection to the land remain strong. Nature dictates the rhythm of life, and the bond with one’s homeland is still deeply felt. Its four hamlets – Sucinva, Laveno, Sommaprada, and Villa – are treasure troves of memories from a ‘remote land’ animated by a lively community. Though this community is sadly dwindling, it still has a strong desire to share its stories. Indeed, Lozio and its people still have so much to say and offer. Here, the mountains and the landscape are sources of inspiration, human connections are cherished, and the past and its memories are the solid roots upon which to build the future.
